Hydration Health - Alzheimer's
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is defined by the Alzheimer's Foundation of America as a progressive, degenerative disorder that attacks the brain's nerve cells, or neurons, resulting in loss of memory, thinking and language skills, and behavioral changes.
Alzheimer's causes dementia which is a loss of intellectual function and is found in people 65 and older. Contrary to popular belief, Alzheimer's is not a normal part of aging. There are several reasons why people get this disease. Studies have shown that high Aluminum content in water may be the cause, however, scientists cannot determine the exact cause. Autopsies show plaques and tangles in the brain tissue and patients diagnosed live on average of 8 to 10 years with the disease.
Alzheimer's is the 7th leading killer in the U.S.
Proper hydration helps with short term memory loss and can help with dementia. Although there is no known cure for Alzheimer's, proper hydration helps your organs, especially your brain, function better and if you are sick, proper hydration aids in recovery.
