Hydration Health - Stroke

Stroke is a Cardio Vascular Disease. It is the number 3 killer in the U.S. and the number 1 cause of disability. The toll it takes on our health system and economy is estimated to be in the hundreds of millions yearly.

Our bodies are dehydrated the most when we wake up. Our blood is thicker, and it is no coincidence that strokes happen more in the morning. When we awake, it is important we drink 8 to 16 ounces of cold water to recharge the brain and thin the blood.

Proper hydration can cut the risk of stroke by as much as 50%. It is important to get regular checkups especially as we age. Of course eating the right amount of fruits and vegetables plays a big factor. As your system clogs less oxygen reaches the brain, which in turn leads to strokes.

A properly hydrated body allows your organs to function better, and if you are sick, aids in recovery.
